Happy Friday! Meet Tommy! @ 10:06 AM
Happy Friday! This weekend two of our friends are coming to visit from Boston! They are getting in late tonight so we are going to share a fancy bottle of wine. Hopefully I can put together a platter that looks as good as this to go with it!
Fostering update! Our sweet first foster cat Maya was adopted last Friday! It was great news but Tim & I were very sad to see her go. Tim even said that when they picked her up and put her in the carrier on the couch, she seemed to be rocking it back and forth like she was planning a stealth escape. Anyways, we're on to the next one - meet Tommy!
When we first met Tommy he was quite the stinker, but after two baths he's cuddle approved. He's so cute with his little mustache and loves to be held like a baby. He's definitely growing on us. If you are interested in meeting Tommy, please feel free to email me at favorablemention@gmail.com. Thanks and happy weekend!!

Happy Valentine's Day! @ 9:59 AM
Happy Valentine's Day!! Tonight, Tim & I are going to try to catch a movie - maybe The Artist or Hugo? (same thing, right?) We went to the movies last year for Valentine's Day and really enjoyed it because most couples are cooking dinner or going out - so it's pretty deserted!
Anyways,
here is an adorable Valentine's Day video from the Rauch Brothers - I love these little animated love stories!

Happy Friday // Meet Maya @ 10:54 AM
Happy Friday! This weekend is action packed - birthday party, a friend coming to visit, haircut, & Superbowl! Have a good one!
P.S. Meet Maya!
She's a super sweet kitty! She's been through a lot, her previous owner died and when they found her she was pregnant. They aborted her babies, so she still misses them a bit.
She loves being pet and has a gorgeous black coat. She uses the litter box like a champ & just started to play.
If you are interested in meeting/adopting her (we're just fostering) or know someone, please email me at favorablemention@gmail.com. Maya would do best with another cat because she loves company!

Fancy Drawers @ 10:18 AM
If you exchange gifts with a friend frequently (holidays/birthdays), you'll find it gets tricky sometimes. You need to remember what you got them last and what they got you - what's going on in their life, what they recently bought, what they need, etc. It's a tedious (but fun!) task.
A few months before Christmas, I saw these gorgeous Chevron
drawer liners from
Hammocks & High Teas. I knew as soon as I laid eyes on them, they'd be perfect for my friend Melissa. She just recently moved, loves gold, & probably wouldn't buy them for herself. I paired it with a super cute Anthropologie candle (also white & gold) and was very eager for her to open it. Christmas came and not only did she love it, but Melissa had picked out the
same exact drawer liners for me! I've really never had that happen to me, but was so happy because you usually end up really liking what you gift. Plus she paired it with some gorgeous
Rifle Paper Co. Cards & stationary.
Anyways, I've been meaning to share these
gorgeous liners with you for awhile! Unfortunately, the Gold chevron liners are sold out - but they now offer them in Silver & Pink.

Cat Woman. @ 2:32 PM
If you asked me 10 years, 5 years, 5 months ago if I would ever have a cat - I'd probably say no. I'm a dog person but it seems 2012 is about the unexpected. I've been dying for a pet lately. And with the 3 different apartments in less than a year, I'm not sure one can fit into my lifestyle. So I decided to foster a cat with the blessing of my roommate & boyfriend. It makes sense right? New York City, small spaces, mice, easy to take care of (fingers crossed!). So last night, little Maya was dropped off. She's a bit shy and very vocal but you can tell she secretly wants to hang out. I haven't got a good picture of her yet, but I'll try to get one tonight.

Peter Guttman @ 10:27 AM
Last night, I had the privilege (thanks, Emily!) of attending a slideshow of travel photographer,
Peter Guttman. The event was thrown in his Upper West Side kitschy apartment by Peter, his wife - Lori and son Chase. They were definitely the most well traveled family I've ever met but also one of the friendliest & happiest families I've ever met. The slideshow included over 1,000 photos with music & sound effects of their past adventures from the year including visits to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Dubai & even Connecticut. The night was a lot of fun and inspiring - the slideshow started out (26 years ago!) as a way to share his photos with friends and has turned into a yearly event with multiple showings to crowds of over 60 people. Below are some photos from the night. Thanks Emily for inviting us!
Their apartment is covered with tons of trinkets from their travels including these marionettes & the lion.

Just ordered one of these adorable 2012 planners from
Julia. The design is fun, clean - plus it's perfect for my endless to do lists & won't look embarrassing on the subway.
PS - Happy Friday (the 13th!!) and a long weekend (hopefully)! We have had our first official mouse sighting in the apt since we moved in, so I'm sure the next couple days will be all about setting traps and a little less sleep for me. Wish us luck!
