Last night, I had the privilege (thanks, Emily!) of attending a slideshow of travel photographer, Peter Guttman.  The event was thrown in his Upper West Side kitschy apartment by Peter, his wife - Lori and son Chase.  They were  definitely the most well traveled family I've ever met but also one of the friendliest & happiest families I've ever met.  The slideshow included over 1,000 photos with music & sound effects of their past adventures from the year including visits to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Dubai & even Connecticut.  The night was a lot of fun and inspiring - the slideshow started out (26 years ago!) as a way to share his photos with friends and has turned into a yearly event with multiple showings to crowds of over 60 people.  Below are some photos from the night. I came across these Pocket People on Etsy and literally laughed out loud at the descriptions.  Handmade by Nicola Rowlands, each one of these little people has a personality of their own.  Take Craig for example:

"Craig cooks a killer spaghetti bolognese and has hairy feet. Very good at hugging. Favours a hunting sock and a goosedown vest in a pocket-sized format for portability (and even sharing.)"

Perfect gift for: A friend in a new city or someone who's travelling.

I can't believe it's almost 2012! 2011 was filled with a brief long distance relationship, lots of moving, and the birth of Favorable Mention! I'll be heading back home for some belated birthday celebrations and to puppysit Chloe! I hope you all have amazing new year's celebrations and I'll be posting a mini 2011 album soon :)

I'm hoping to be able to check out some thrift stores/vintage shops this weekend because I am going through a slight widthdrawal.  Here are a few items I've been admiring from afar this week.

I got back yesterday from a much too short weekend in Chicago.  The wedding was fabulous and it was so much fun to get dressed up in an unfamiliar city.  We had some time to explore the city, but I definitely think I will have to visit again sometime soon!  Here's a few photos from the weekend.

I'm hoping to use my (renewed)  passport for the first time, enjoy some beautiful scenery, catch up with my love, and hopefully score some sunshine & one-of-a-kind antiques.
