Last night, I had the privilege (thanks, Emily!) of attending a slideshow of travel photographer, Peter Guttman. The event was thrown in his Upper West Side kitschy apartment by Peter, his wife - Lori and son Chase. They were definitely the most well traveled family I've ever met but also one of the friendliest & happiest families I've ever met. The slideshow included over 1,000 photos with music & sound effects of their past adventures from the year including visits to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Dubai & even Connecticut. The night was a lot of fun and inspiring - the slideshow started out (26 years ago!) as a way to share his photos with friends and has turned into a yearly event with multiple showings to crowds of over 60 people. Below are some photos from the night. Thanks Emily for inviting us!

New Year's Resolution #2 @ 8:57 AM

Just ordered one of these adorable 2012 planners from Julia. The design is fun, clean - plus it's perfect for my endless to do lists & won't look embarrassing on the subway.

PS - Happy Friday (the 13th!!) and a long weekend (hopefully)! We have had our first official mouse sighting in the apt since we moved in, so I'm sure the next couple days will be all about setting traps and a little less sleep for me. Wish us luck!

I love everything about Molami - to their products, packaging & design. Swedish industrial designer Maria von Euler perfected these designer looking headphones down to the packaging (reminiscent of Apple products). I especially love the Twine style.

Double Finger Ring @ 12:30 AM

Would you wear a double finger ring? I had an inexpensive brass double finger ring from Urban Outfitters about a year ago that I lost, but I really loved wearing it. I thought it would be uncomfortable, but it really wasn't. I love these rings from Satomi Kawakita, a New York City jewelry designer that grew up in Japan.

The new year always makes me reassess my closet - get rid of things I don't wear or items that don't fit. With the constant moving around in 2011, this task has been done three (different) times! Since then I have vowed to buy only classic, can't live without items. But these gorgeous handpainted silk blouses by Coinmatta (a workshop located in Milan, Italy) have me wishing I had a unique statement piece like this in my closet.

I can't believe it's almost 2012! 2011 was filled with a brief long distance relationship, lots of moving, and the birth of Favorable Mention! I'll be heading back home for some belated birthday celebrations and to puppysit Chloe! I hope you all have amazing new year's celebrations and I'll be posting a mini 2011 album soon :)

After seeing Flora Grubb's vertical flowers & gardens on Design*Sponge, I knew I had to purchase a few. I ended up getting the Thigmotrope Satellite Fleet and I absolutely love them. It puts some life into my room and airplants are perfect for my city dwelling lifestyle.

An art school in Detroit, College for Creative Studies, launched these ads to get parents & students to consider a BFA or MFA. These made me laugh out loud, plus it's nice to see support for creativity/arts.
