After this weekend, I don't really want to think about food. Between the feast we had Saturday night & the Superbowl party we went to - I'm ready to fast for the day.
Just ordered one of these adorable 2012 planners from Julia. The design is fun, clean - plus it's perfect for my endless to do lists & won't look embarrassing on the subway.
PS - Happy Friday (the 13th!!) and a long weekend (hopefully)! We have had our first official mouse sighting in the apt since we moved in, so I'm sure the next couple days will be all about setting traps and a little less sleep for me. Wish us luck!
I love everything about Molami - to their products, packaging & design. Swedish industrial designer Maria von Euler perfected these designer looking headphones down to the packaging (reminiscent of Apple products). I especially love the Twine style.
Artist Yayoi Kusama is making kids' dreams come true. With the setting of an all white home as the backdrop, Kusama invited kids to come and stick thousands of stickers down. Such a fun idea!
I can't believe it's almost 2012! 2011 was filled with a brief long distance relationship, lots of moving, and the birth of Favorable Mention! I'll be heading back home for some belated birthday celebrations and to puppysit Chloe! I hope you all have amazing new year's celebrations and I'll be posting a mini 2011 album soon :)

A few shots from Christmas. My gifts this year definitely had a theme - will post some photos early next week! Happy we all have the new year to look forward to because Christmas is really the best time of the year. I'm so sad to see it go!
I know everyone is in serious "must finish Christmas shopping mode" but this amazing video from Google of 2011 will make you tear up and inspire you for the new year.
An art school in Detroit, College for Creative Studies, launched these ads to get parents & students to consider a BFA or MFA. These made me laugh out loud, plus it's nice to see support for creativity/arts.
This past weekend we went up to visit Tim's grandpa, who is 91 & probably one of the funniest people I have ever met. The visit was filled with stories, potato soup, card games & a raid of his closet. Here are some things that he insisted we take home.
gorgeous ties
probably the coolest sweater ever (it's so dave coulier)
the sweater pile (two of these sweaters are mine!)
Chances are you might be running out of gift ideas for your siblings. My three older brothers and I started to do a Secret Santa a few years ago to add some surprise & also to save some money in general. This year we have decided to do a book exchange (the great idea came from my oldest brother Paul). I can't wait to see what book someone else has picked out for me, plus this will test my gifting skills - it's a huge challenge to pick out a book for someone else!
P.S. If you are interested in doing a Secret Santa gift exchange, try Elfster. It's an easy way to organize a gift exchange, especially if your participants live all over the country.
Steve Jobs by Water Isaacson. I'm a huge Steve Jobs fan (along with the rest of the world), so I am eager to read any details about his life I don't already know.
My 3 brothers & sister-in-law (Dan, Val, Paul & Anette) just recently opened up their Etsy shop No Outlet Group!! These t-shirts are made by hand using eco-friendly fabrics & inks. Their opening collection includes 7 iconic Depression-era silkscreened prints.
I love reading about what designers/entrepreneurs did in the past to get to where they are now. Matt Bernson used to work as a construction worker, but now he goes to work daily in his Tribeca studio creating hand crafted, high quality shoes. Not only are the shoes eco-friendly, they're elegant and casual - perfect for any occasion. Shop here. *I love his construction inspired boot.
Know someone that is not so computer savvy and could use a little simplicity in their life? Set them up an internet buttons page, it's free and it will make their life (and your life) a little bit easier.
When living in a big city such as New York City, it's easy to meet people but it is hard to find a commonality with others and become more than acquaintances. Grub with us is trying to change that. Grub with us is giving people a kick in the butt to get out there by pairing eating + socializing. You can buy a seat at a table (at a great price) and join some strangers for a good meal. You might not walk out with your best friend but I'm sure there's great conversation - and you never know who you'll meet! Check the map to see if your city hosts Grub with us meals, if not - request it!
